Indie music (the words quoted from the English word indie independent (free)) refers to a number of types of music, music scene, subbudaya and stilistik and cultural characteristics which are considered the perception of independence from commercial pop music and mainstream culture and approach to the work itself (do -it-youself/DIY) independently.

Meanwhile, the major labels often retain indie artists based on given greater creative freedom and accept the praise of critics.
